As BPC-157 goes viral, the oral capsule supplement market has exploded — and quality varies enormously. Here's how to evaluate brands, what to look for in third-party testing, and what the evidence says about effective doses.
BPC-157's viral moment has done what viral moments always do: created a surge in demand for products that most consumers have never bought before, from a category where quality control is genuinely difficult to verify.
The good news: oral BPC-157 capsule supplements are accessible, affordable by supplement standards, and meaningful in the animal research. The bad news: the market is largely unregulated, sourcing transparency varies dramatically, and it is not always easy to know what you are actually getting.

Until the FDA's 2023-2024 restrictions on compounded peptides, the standard clinical delivery route for BPC-157 was subcutaneous injection using pharmacy-compounded vials. Those restrictions pushed most supply toward either unregulated injectable sources (which carry serious sterility and quality risks) or the oral capsule market (which operates in supplement space and is more accessible).
The scientific justification for oral use is real: multiple animal studies have demonstrated that oral BPC-157 administration — equivalent to swallowing a capsule — produces measurable tissue repair effects including Achilles tendon healing, gut mucosal repair, and organ protection. This is unusually favorable pharmacokinetics for a peptide, driven by BPC-157's exceptional stability in acidic environments.
The effective oral dose in rat studies, when scaled to human body weight using standard allometric conversion, typically falls in the 200–600 mcg/day range. Most human users report using 250–500 mcg/day based on these conversions and community experience, though no formal human dose-finding study exists.
Third-party testing and COA. This is non-negotiable. Any reputable supplier should be able to provide a certificate of analysis (COA) from an independent, accredited US laboratory confirming: (1) identity verified by HPLC or mass spectrometry, (2) declared potency within ±10%, (3) absence of contaminants including heavy metals and microbial contamination. If a company does not publish COAs or cannot provide one on request, do not buy from them.
Source transparency. BPC-157 is synthesized by solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) — a well-established pharmaceutical manufacturing method. Reputable suppliers will name their manufacturing source or at minimum confirm GMP-compliant synthesis. Vague claims about "natural" BPC-157 are a red flag — it is by definition synthetic.
Excipients and capsule quality. BPC-157 is active at microgram doses. A 500 mcg capsule contains an extremely small amount of active ingredient — most of the capsule volume is filler. Quality fillers (microcrystalline cellulose, rice flour) are inert and fine. Proprietary blends that obscure the actual BPC-157 dose should be avoided entirely.
Dose per capsule. Most reputable brands offer 250 mcg or 500 mcg per capsule. Products listing dose in milligrams (e.g., "500 mg") with claims equivalent to microgram-dosed products are either misdosing or mislabeling — at 500 mg, you would be taking 1,000 times the typical human equivalent dose.
